As for the sizes of the new flagships, they remain the same as their predecessors. The only difference is that the total weight of the devices has changed a little. They are a few grams lighter than the 6 S, but still not as light as the first-generation 6s.
At first glance, the difference in the dimensions of the smartphones is minimal, and, in theory, cases from both versions of the sixes could be suitable for the new flagship. However, there is a small nuance - in the 4.7-inch modification, the manufacturer has moved the camera socket closer to the ends, and the “eye” itself with the lens has become larger. Thus, it turns out that part of the camera will simply be covered with a cover.

And for the plus version, even more so, the non-standard dual module of two cameras forces you to purchase a new case.

Tightness

As already mentioned, the “seven” became waterproof, something both predecessors could not boast of. A special adhesive tape is laid under all the joints of the case, making the smartphone airtight. I wonder if it will be possible to restore it in the event of any service intervention? Or will the iPhone still let moisture in after opening it?
Please note that the “seventh” iPhone is not intended for long swims with the owner.

The protection of the gadget is rather designed for short-term exposure to the aquatic environment. In this case, everything will work out without consequences. The maximum is that new iPhone can withstand - this is a half-hour stay in fresh (!) water, and at a depth of no more than one meter.

Another global update affected the amount of built-in memory. The long-standing “16/64/128” line has been replaced by 32/128/256 gigabyte versions. In addition, from now on, the closest predecessor versions will also receive “new memory”.
It is noteworthy that the manufacturer doubled the capacity without increasing the overall cost of smartphones, in either case.

It is not yet known how such increases will affect the performance of devices, since predecessors with 128 GB of memory on board previously had problems with stability.

Cameras

Improvements have also been made to camera modules. They even outwardly became more massive and better built, or something. See for yourself, here's how they compare to the 6 S.

Performance

The “Seven” received a quad-core chip, which, coupled with RAM expanded to 3 GB, can easily cope with any load. Thanks to the new Fusion processor, the smartphone shows excellent results in benchmark tests. So, using the example of the geekbench, we can evaluate a noticeable increase in performance compared to its predecessor, the 6 S (“seven” on the left).
The gap from the top six is ​​even more impressive - almost twice (its results were 1624 and 2922, respectively).

Also, due to the space created in place of the audio jack, the engineers managed to increase the battery capacity. Thus, the increase in capacity in the iPhone 7 was 14% compared to its predecessor, and the battery capacity in the iPhone 7 Plus increased by 5%. If we compare it with the “sixes” - in absolute terms it is 1960 mAh versus 1715 mAh for the base model, or 2900 mAh versus 2750 mAh for the “plus”.

To take or not to take?

It is possible that there will be critics who are fed up with the constant fireworks of innovation from different manufacturers, and who are thirsty for more and more changes.

However, the lion's share of the work of engineers and designers remains hidden from view. And seemingly identical devices can be radically different, which is exactly what happens in the case of the sevens. Although the changes are not obvious, they are definitely there, and very significant!

Whether it makes sense to change your 6 S (or 6) to an iPhone 7 is up to you to decide. So, if you have expensive accessories with a standard mini-jack port, and you are not going to spend money on new ones, we recommend holding off on updating your smartphone to a new version. If you still have an iPhone 6 in your hands, then you probably won’t have any lags for another two years. Of course, everything will work slower, but not critical.

Camera and battery. I'll start with the battery to immediately close this issue. It takes longer, but that's the least of your worries. Both make it through the day without problems.


But with a camera it’s much more interesting. It’s tolerable to take selfies on the six, but by today’s standards it’s simply terrible. Best works are obtained only in good lighting.

Seven has taken a very big step forward and is now as much as 7 MP. All the details of your face and background will be simply magical.

The main camera competes 8 MP versus 12 MP. Of course, the second one is better and has stabilization, but in the right hands, the first one can produce some pretty good photos.

• If you have money If you have money, then it is best, of course, to take a seven, because it will last for a very long time and a lot of chips will make you very happy.
• Not much money, but you can raise some money. Top-end smartphones are always the most expensive, so it’s probably better to take an iPhone 6S rather than an iPhone 6. It is closer in characteristics and you will not feel deprived.
• In what case should I take 6? Overall, despite the unsuccessful plus version, the iPhone 6 turned out to be very good. It will last you for another year, or even two uses. And if you're saving money, you might want to think about the REF version.
