  • Router (modem) address. Most often, this is an IP address (from numbers): 192.168.0.1 , or 192.168.1.1 . It may also be possible to use not an IP address, but a hostname (an address made up of letters). For example: tplinkwifi.net, wifi.com, my.keenetic.net, etc. Even if the router has an address made up of letters, you can still access the settings by IP address. The address itself is almost always indicated on the device. Typically on a sticker on the bottom of the device. Also, factory information can be indicated in the instructions or on the box.
  • admin And admin. The router control panel itself is protected by a login and password. To enter the settings, after going to the address 192.168.0.1 (in our case), you need to specify your login and password. Again, depending on the specific device model, the factory login and password may differ. Most often, the word admin is used as the login and password (by default). This information is also indicated on the device itself. There are models, for example ZyXEL, where there is no login and password from the factory. It must be installed immediately after entering the settings.

Therefore, first of all, you need to look at what address, and what factory login and password is used to access the control panel of your specific network device. As I wrote above, in most cases, all this factory information is indicated on the device itself. It looks something like this:

We need to open the properties of the connection through which we are connected to the router. To do this, go to the "Network and Sharing Center" and go to "Change adapter settings."

admin and admin at 192.168.0.1 are not suitable

It is not uncommon for a situation to occur when the authorization page still opens, but after entering the admin username and password, nothing happens. The page simply reloads, or a message appears that the password is incorrect.

First, look at the router case to see what password and login are used by default in your case. If it’s admin and admin, then most likely the password (and/or login) was changed in the router settings. Therefore, if you don’t remember it, then most likely you will have to reset the router settings and configure it again. If this is not a hardware problem, and after resetting the settings, you will be able to go to the control panel.

Important! It is quite possible that after resetting the settings, the Internet through the router will stop working (if it worked before). And I cannot guarantee that this will solve the problem with logging into the router settings. If you still manage to access 192.168.0.1, then you can configure your router again.

Resetting the settings is not difficult. Just find the Reset button on the router, press it, and hold it for about 10-15 seconds. As a rule, this button is recessed into the body, so it needs to be pressed with something sharp.

After resetting the settings, to access the control panel you need to use the factory address, username and password, which are indicated on the device itself or in the instructions.

So, based on the request you enter, a specific page appears where you can specify all the necessary and appropriate settings so that the device functions correctly. Open the router settings page through the browser

The main thing is that you get used to it and feel comfortable working in it) and enter the IP address of your modem in the search bar. Unfortunately, there are also cases when the network access devices themselves - modems, Wi-Fi routers and optical terminals - break down. Sometimes this happens due to thunderstorms, power surges, or simply old age. In this case, the device simply stops responding to requests over the network and does not distribute the Internet - neither via cable nor via WiFi. Of course, login via 192.168.1.1 is not available. There is no login to the web interface because the network cable is damaged

We must not forget that access to the router settings may be unavailable due to a damaged network patch cord. Be sure to check it carefully along its entire length to see if there is any damage to the braid or cores, whether it is crushed or bent somewhere.

It is also worth paying special attention to the connectors. Very often, one of the wires breaks right in the connector. At best, this will lead to problems with the network connection, and at worst, the device will be unavailable.

192.168.1.1 login admin does not open and password does not work

Now let's look at another option for the development of the event. You have access to the web interface of your modem or router via http://192.168.1.1, but the login and password admin admin are not suitable and login is not available. The browser writes that the password is incorrect and prompts you to log in again! What to do?

Let's start by checking whether the default username and password admin are actually used on your router. However, there are exceptions for different brands and models. To do this, you need to turn the device upside down and look at what is written on its sticker:

Usually the IP address is indicated there, as well as the authorization data used initially - Username (login) and Password (password). As you can see in the picture, our D-Link modem uses IP 192.168.1.1 admin admin. In some older DLink models, an empty string is used by default instead of a password, then the "Password" field will be written Leave the field blank(leave the field blank).

But even if the sticker says that Login login and password 192.168.1.1 admin/admin, it’s not at all a fact that you will be able to get under them. The fact is that if someone had already set up this network device before you, then he could well have changed the password to something else. This happens very often. What to do in this case? Yes, just reset via the Reset button to factory settings. Otherwise, just look for the person who configured the device before and ask him for the access key!

Note- if you are sure that no one has changed the password or you have reset the router settings, but the router is still inaccessible via 192.168.1.1 and complains about the password - try logging into it using another browser - Chrome, Opera or FireFox. Sometimes the browser remembers incorrect data and inserts it into the fields by default when logging in. You can eliminate this either by clearing the cache or by using a different Internet browser.

I want to immediately and unequivocally state that in networks and network technologies the IP address 192.168.l.l does not exist in principle, which means that we can’t access a router using it - it won’t work! Where did it come from then and for some reason many users try to log into a TP-Link, ASUS or Zyxel router through this incorrect address 192.168.l.l?! Let's figure it out!!!

Most WiFi routers, ADSL modems and optical routers use IP 192.168.1.1 for the local network by default. As you can see, it is completely digital and consists of 4 digital groups. Letters are not used there.
The same address is usually written on a special sticker located on the device’s body so that the person who picks it up for the first time can easily access its web interface and make the necessary settings.

Go to the properties of the connection used to connect to the router settings. Typically this is a standard network connection, a local area network connection. After entering new TCP/IP v4 parameters, do not forget to save them by clicking OK. We go back to the browser and try to log in. If this does not help, you can try checking your proxy settings; they should be disabled.

It wouldn't hurt to disable the standard Windows firewall or any other antivirus-based firewalls, such as ESET. Such programs can block any network connections, including those to the settings panel http://192.168.1.1 via admin/admin.
